On Tuesday October 27th, 2015, Brent Coon and Associates filed a multi-family lawsuit against Trinity Industries in Dallas County District Court over several separate and tragic wrecks involving these defective “Trinity Guardrails”. Three of these occurrences involved fatalities, and a fourth involved an individual who was seriously and permanently injured. The lawsuit accuses Trinity Industries of Strict Liability, Negligence, Gross Negligence, and Fraudulent Misrepresentation and seeks to recover compensatory damages and punitive damages.

One of the four fatality lawsuits arising from the DuPont facility tragedy last November in La Porte has settled. Confidential settlement terms of the multi million dollar lawsuit were reached with the estate representative of DuPont employee, Crystle Wise, an operator at the Lannate Unit who was overcome by toxic gases along with three of her coworkers.

The families of four workers killed in a Nov. 15 chemical plant gas leak are calling for greater accountability for DuPont management in response to the release of a U.S. Chemical Safety Board report that outlines major safety failures at the company's La Porte plant.

On August 26, 2006 Elbert and Karen Choate were injured in a car wreck that was not their fault. A dump truck had been parked at the top of an overpass on Interstate 10 in Beaumont, Texas and while the driver left it unattented to go get gas, it rolled back across west bound I-10.

Multiple law firms are preparing for a major trial next week in the boiler explosion deaths of Russell Mann and Billy Smith, operational engineers for CVR Energies owned Wynnewood Refinery in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. The trial is expected to last for several weeks and will include numerous experts and witnesses including CVR CEO Jack Lipinski.

A class action suit filed Wednesday alleges the Jefferson County Appraisal District and its chief appraiser "unilaterally and fraudulently" reclassified almost 8,000 homes from one-and-half stories to two stories for the purpose of increasing tax revenue.

Attorneys Bailey Wingate and Brent Coon argued the case of their client, Elaine Henderson, at the Jefferson County Appraisal District's board meeting on Wednesday. Wingate said their focus is to get relief to almost 8,000 people they say were impacted by changes the district made earlier this year.

As many as ten thousand Jefferson County homeowners had their homes taxed at significantly increased values this year by an unprecedented decision of the new Jefferson County Tax Appraiser to change the definition of 1 ½ story homes to 2 story homes. This decision was apparently not disclosed to the tax board and approved as a policy change, and was not communicated to local homeowners as the SOLE REASON that their taxes were significantly increased.
