One year ago this weekend, a toxic gas leak took the lives of four workers of the DuPont LaPorte chemical facility. All four families retained counsel to pursue legal remedies for those losses in Harris County District Court. The first of those four claims finally reached closure with DuPont a few weeks ago with a confidential financial settlement.

On Tuesday October 27th, 2015, Brent Coon and Associates filed a multi-family lawsuit against Trinity Industries in Dallas County District Court over several separate and tragic wrecks involving these defective “Trinity Guardrails”. Three of these occurrences involved fatalities, and a fourth involved an individual who was seriously and permanently injured. The lawsuit accuses Trinity Industries of Strict Liability, Negligence, Gross Negligence, and Fraudulent Misrepresentation and seeks to recover compensatory damages and punitive damages.

One of the four fatality lawsuits arising from the DuPont facility tragedy last November in La Porte has settled. Confidential settlement terms of the multi million dollar lawsuit were reached with the estate representative of DuPont employee, Crystle Wise, an operator at the Lannate Unit who was overcome by toxic gases along with three of her coworkers.

On August 26, 2006 Elbert and Karen Choate were injured in a car wreck that was not their fault. A dump truck had been parked at the top of an overpass on Interstate 10 in Beaumont, Texas and while the driver left it unattented to go get gas, it rolled back across west bound I-10.
